Nopalea™ to be Included in 2012 Physicians’ Desk Reference®

TriVita has announced that product information on its Nopalea™ wellness drink will be published in the PDR Drug Information Service™, which will include the 2012 print edition of the Physicians’ Desk Reference® (PDR) and will appear in the online version at PDR.net sometime next month.

The PDR is an excellent resource for customers and their doctors to review product information about Nopalea.

The Physicians’ Desk Reference® (PDR) is a commercially-published compilation of manufacturers’ prescribing information that is updated annually. It is designed to provide physicians with full, legally-mandated information but is also widely available in libraries and bookstores and is commonly used by other medical specialists.

Good health starts in the gut

Digestion may be one of the most important functions of the body, affecting nutrient absorption, immune system function and much more.

Yet, according to the American College of Gastroenterology, 95 million Americans suffer from digestive problems.

This can include everything from heartburn and irregularity to gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

The intestinal tract is home to nearly 100 trillion microorganisms (called intestinal flora). Some of these are “unfriendly” bacteria, while the majority are beneficial bacteria called probiotics.

Probiotics support good health by limiting the growth of harmful bacteria, promoting good digestion and increasing resistance to infection. A healthy gut maintains a balance of these good and bad bacteria.

Vitamin D and Your Brain

I recently read an article in the medical and scientific literature that discussed the role of Vitamin D in the human brain. The article correlated the low levels of Vitamin D in the bloodstream with high levels of anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and oppositional-defiant disorder. The most important discussions, however, were about the role of Vitamin D in two plagues: autism and Alzheimer’s disease.

Acid-Alkaline Balanced Foods

When we eat acid/alkaline balanced foods,  the ph  improves. When we maintain proper pH levels, injuries heal faster and health challenges improve quicker because the body is oxygenated and therefore can detoxify and heal itself. If cells are energized in this way, we develop a strong immunity to diseases and a significantly lower propensity for cancer.

Did you know that when you improve the balance of one system, it improves the balance and vitality of the rest of the organ systems.

Are you getting enough fruits and vegetables? Most people aren’t.

If you find it difficult to get your recommended daily servings of fruits and vegetables, you’re not alone. A recent Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report revealed that more than 75% of Americans don’t meet the minimum recommendation of five servings of fruits and vegetables per day.

With all the time and commitment involved in shopping and prep work, not to mention the rising cost of food, that statistic isn’t surprising – although it is alarming.

Evidence continues to grow regarding fruit and vegetable consumption and disease risk.

Top 10 List To Better Heart Health

by Brazos Minshew, Trivita’s Chief Science Officer

What an amazing organ our heart is! It beats for an entire lifetime without stopping for a break. With every heartbeat, about a third of a cup of oxygen-rich blood is pumped out to your body. This means that between 1,500 and 2,000 gallons of blood are pumped through your heart every day. The average heartbeat is 72 times per minute. In the course of one day it beats over 100,000 times. In one year the heart beats almost 38 million times, and by the time you are 70 years old, on average, it beats 2.5 billion times! That makes me tired just thinking about it.
